Invitation:
The Garden Legacy Project will take you on a journey through time, exploring the interconnected stories of Foxcroft founder Charlotte Haxall Noland and Rachel Lambert “Bunny” Mellon, Foxcroft class of 1929. Both women were groundbreaking in their respective fields of education and design. They shared not only a love of gardening, but an understanding of - and appreciation for - the greater scope of the natural world and its transformative role for individuals and communities alike. Archival images will trace the trajectory of their lives, intersecting at Foxcroft and running parallel thereafter.
Garden spaces across campus will be highlighted, including the library’s courtyard design conceived by Bunny Mellon, bringing to fruition her love of the school and lifelong friendship with Miss Charlotte. This collaborative showcase will also feature a few recent lessons from the land, given by Foxcroft faculty seeking to keep the garden legacy alive.
Join Us For:
Light refreshments, archival exhibit, slide presentation, and short walking tour.
